In Psalms ninety-seven the Psalmist said, “Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all you gods. Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of your judgments, O LORD”, and in chapter ninety-seven and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said, “you, LORD, are high above all the earth” where we read,
For you, LORD, are high above all the earth: you are exalted far above all gods.
The verse begins, “For you, LORD, are high above all the earth:” The Psalmist began with the words, “for you” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God”, “LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “are high above all the earth” or “exist as in the uppermost and exalted place over each, every, the whole and every part of the land, ground, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is exalted over every part of the world.
The verse goes on to say, “you are exalted far above all gods.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “you are exalted” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as sprung up, risen, extended, excelled and superior” “far above all gods” which means “exceedingly and abundantly over each, every, the whole and everyone of the judges, rulers and magistrates which are treated as divinities”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God exists as over all other rulers, judges and divinities.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be over the entire world, and He is exceedingly greater than every other idol or deity in the world. Because of this, is it any wonder that we should give our total allegiance to Him? Jehovah God is the only God who gave His Son Jesus to the world to die for our sins, and whosoever, including us, believes and trusts in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life with God and be filled with the knowledge that Jehovah God reigns Supreme over every other deity and all the world. (See John 3:16)
