In Psalms ninety-nine the Psalmist said, “Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.”, and in chapter ninety-nine and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “He spoke unto them in the cloudy pillar” where we read,
He spoke unto them in the cloudy pillar:
they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.
The verse begins, “He spoke unto them in the cloudy pillar:” The Psalmist began with the words, “He spoke unto them” or “He, Jehovah God, uttered, declared and proclaimed to them, Moses and Aaron” “in the cloudy pillar” which means “within the billowy or nimbus clouds that were stacked like an upright column”. (See Exodus 19:9; 33:9 and Numbers 12:5) The Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God made proclamations to Moses and Aaron in the midst of the “cloudy column” that was among the people of Israel as they traveled in the wilderness.
The verse continues, “they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.” The Psalmist added the words, “they kept his testimonies” or “they, Moses and Aaron, guarded, preserved, regarded and saved his, Jehovah God's, witnesses”, “and the ordinance” which means “and the statute, limit, prescribed task, portion and boundary” “that he gave them” or “that he, Jehovah God, put, set forth, bestowed, granted and permitted to them, Moses and Aaron”. The Psalmist said Moses and Aaron observed and guarded Jehovah God's witnesses as well as the statute and prescribed tasks that He gave to them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God spoke to Moses and Aaron in the “column of clouds” while the children of Israel were in the wilderness. Moses and Aaron observed God's witness and law, and they led the people of Israel according to God's desire and plan. God wants to have an intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins which kept us separated from Him. When we yield ourselves to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us by His Holy Spirit according to His will and purpose for our lives. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus and surrender to Him when He speak to us.
Next time the Psalmist says, “you answered them, O LORD our God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
