In Psalms ninety-five the Psalmist said, “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation”, and in Psalms ninety-five and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “let us come before his presence with thanksgiving” where we read,
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
The verse begins, “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “let us come” or “allow and permit us, the Psalmist and his people, to walk, proceed, move and lead forth” “before his presence” which means “in front and within Jehovah God's sight, countenance and person” “with thanksgiving” or “by confession, praise and gratitude in songs of liturgical worship and hymns of praise”. The Psalmist called upon himself and his people to present themselves in front of Jehovah God with songs of liturgical worship and hymns of praise.
The verse goes on to say, “... and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and make a joyful noise” or “raise a sound, shout, cry out and give a blast” “unto him” which means “to Jehovah God” “with psalms” or “by the use of songs accompanied with instrumental music”. The Psalmist encouraged his readers and listeners to raise a sound and cry out to Jehovah God with songs that are accompanied with musical instruments.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist wanted himself and the people with him to present themselves in front of Jehovah God with an attitude of gratitude, and they were to raise a sound to Him with songs accompanied by musical instruments. Jehovah God is worthy of our “praise” and “thanksgiving” because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make way for us to give praise, honor and glory to Him for all eternity.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD is a great God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
