Bringing Them Their Own Iniquity - Psalms 94:23

In Psalms ninety-four the Psalmist said, “the LORD is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge” and in chapter ninety-four and verse twenty-two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “he shall bring upon them their own iniquity” where we read,

And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness;

yes, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

The verse begins, And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The Psalmist began with the words, “and he shall bring upon them” or “and he, Jehovah God, will return, restore, refresh and repair” “their own iniquity” which means “their, the wicked people's, own trouble, sorrow, idolatry and sorrow”, “and shall cut them off” or “and will exterminate, put an end to, extirpate and terminate the wicked people” “in their own wickedness” which means “within their, the wicked people's, own bad, evil, disagreeableness, malignancy and unpleasantness”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God will return to people who are wicked the evil they have in their own lives, and he would put an end to their evil and wrong.

The verse goes on to say,yes, the LORD our God shall cut them off. The Psalmist continued with the words, “yes, the LORD” or “even so and indeed Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “our God” which means “our, the Psalmist and the people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “shall cut them off” or “will destroy, put an end to, exterminate and extirpate the people who are wicked”. The Psalmist confirmed that Jehovah God who is the Divine judge would exterminate and destroy the people who commit wickedness.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God would avenge Himself of people who are wicked, and He would exterminate and destroy them. This is not the way God desires it to be, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind to make a way to escape His judgment. God will forgive and save every person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and He will contend with and judge every person who refuses and rejects Jesus to rule over their lives.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “O come, let us sing unto the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
