In Psalms ninety-five the Psalmist said, “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms”, and in chapter ninety-five and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD is a great God” where we read,
For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
The verse begins, “For the LORD is a great God, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is a great God” which means “exists as an important, distinguished and exceedingly noble Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. The Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be an exceedingly important and distinguished Supreme God.
The verse continues, “... and a great King above all gods.” The Psalmist added the words, “and a great King” or “and an important, distinguished and exceedingly noble Royal Ruler” “above all gods” which means “over and beyond each, every, the whole and everyone of the rulers, judges and magistrates”. The Psalmist proclaimed Jehovah God to be an important and distinguished Royal Ruler who is over and beyond every other ruler or judge who exists.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be an exceedingly noble Supreme God, and He is a distinguished Royal Ruler who is over every other ruler in the world. God created the world and everyone within it. He determines who will be in power and who will not, and His power and might exceed them all. (See Daniel 2:21-22) This same Supreme God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to know Him as Jehovah God, the Supreme God who is important, distinguished and more exceedingly noble than anyone else in the world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “in his hand are the deep places of the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
