In Psalms ninety-seven and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said, “The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice” where we read,
The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
The verse begins, “The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice;” The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD reigns” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God counsels, advises, considers and rules”; “let the earth rejoice” which means “allow and permit the land, ground, territory, region and world exult, tremble, spin around and be joyful”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God rules, and the world was to be allowed to be gleeful and joyful over Him.
The verse continues, “let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.” The Psalmist added the words, “let the multitude” or “allow and permit the great, abounding, numerous and exceeding increase” “of the isles” which means “belonging to the shore, coast and island” “be glad thereof” or “exist as exulting, rejoicing, made glad and gleeful with Jehovah God ruling and reigning”. The Psalmist called upon the great number of the islands to be gleeful over Jehovah God ruling.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared Jehovah God's rule over the world, and the “earth” and the numerous islands were to be gleeful and rejoice because of it. God created the world and all the people within it. He knew mankind needed a “Savior” because everyone sins and those sins lead them to eternal separation from Him. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all of us. He invites us to receive Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and enjoy His ruling and joy for all eternity.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Clouds and darkness are round about him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
