In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “honor and majesty are before him” where we read,
Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
The verse begins, “Honor and majesty are before him:” The Psalmist began with the words, “honor and majesty” or “splendor, beauty, comeliness, excellence, glory and ornament” “are before him” which means “exist in front of and in the presence and countenance of him, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist declared that splendor, beauty, ornament and excellence are in within the presence of Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.” The Psalmist added the words, “strength and beauty” or “power, might, ability, boldness, security, boldness and finery, rank, renown and glory” “are in his sanctuary” which means “exist within his, Jehovah God's, sacred and holy tabernacle or temple”. The Psalmist said power, might, finery and renown exist within Jehovah God's sacred temple or tabernacle.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist exalted the splendor, beauty, excellence, power and might which exist within Jehovah God and His sacred tabernacle. God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent, and He rules over all the world and universe. He created them and us, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins because sin separates us from God. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make His “honor, majesty, strength and beauty” known to us on the earth and forever in Heaven with Him.
Next time the Psalmist says, “give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
