In Psalms ninety-seven the Psalmist said, “The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goes before him, and burns up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled”, and in chapter ninety-seven and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD” where we read,
The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The verse begins, “The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “the hills” or “the risings above the plain or range of mountains” “melted like wax” which means “dissolved, wasted, vanished and fainted away in likeness to wax” “at the presence” or “before the face, countenance and front” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist referred to the range of mountains dissolving before Jehovah God's face and countenance.
The verse goes on to say, “... at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “at the presence” or “before the face, countenance and front” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “of the whole earth” or “belonging to the entire, total and everything within the world”. The Psalmist repeated the idea of the mountain ranges dissolving throughout the “world” while in the presence of Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist spoke of Jehovah God's power over the mountain ranges of the world. Within His presence, they dissolve away like melting wax. God's power is greater than any force in the world, and the mountain ranges, as majestic and huge as they may be, are as nothing before Him. God desires to share His powerful salvation and deliverance with mankind, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of everyone. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow His mountain range dissolving power to rule and reign in our lives.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the heavens declare his righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
