In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “O sing unto the LORD a new song. sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation from day to day”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Declare his glory among the heathen” where we read,
Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
The verse begins, “Declare his glory among the heathen, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “Declare his glory” or “recount, relate, reckon, number, rehearse and enumerate his, Jehovah God's, honor, splendor, dignity and reputation” “among the heathen” which means “in the midst of the foreign nations and people of the world”. The Psalmist told his readers and listeners to rehearse and make know Jehovah God's splendor, honor and reputation to the pagan and foreign nations of the world.
The verse goes on to say, “... his wonders among all people.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “his wonders” or “his, Jehovah God's, marvelous, wonderful, surpassing and extraordinary acts and deeds” “among all people” which means “in the midst of the whole and totality of every nation, members of one's people, compatriots, countrymen, kinsmen and kindred”. The Psalmist charged his readers and listeners to also declare the wonderful and extraordinary acts and deeds of Jehovah God to every foreign nation throughout the world.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to proclaim Jehovah God's honor and splendor in the midst of pagan nations, and they were to make known the marvelous acts and deeds of Him known to every person. This is what sharing the gospel or good news of Jesus Christ is all about. God loves everyone, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to be a part of sharing His wonderful works of salvation throughout the world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
