In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “give unto the LORD glory and strength” where we read,
Give unto the LORD, O you kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
The verse begins, “Give unto the LORD, O you kindreds of the people, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “give unto the LORD” or “provide, ascribe, set place and grant to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “O you kindreds” which means “O you, clan, family, tribe, people and nation” “of the people” or “belonging to persons, members, compatriots, countrymen, kinsmen and kindred”. The Psalmist called upon every compatriot and kinsman of His country to ascribe and grant to Jehovah God the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... give unto the LORD glory and strength.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “give unto the LORD” or “provide, ascribe, set place and grant to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “glory and strength” which means “honor, abundance, riches, splendor, dignity, reputation, reverence and power, might and ability”. The Psalmist called upon the people of the world to ascribe and grant splendor, might, power and ability to Jehovah God .
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist wanted people all around the world to ascribe unto Jehovah God splendor, honor, power, strength and ability. In other words, people around the world should attribute to Jehovah God His qualities and character, and when we realize who God is and that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, we should submit ourselves to Him, be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and when we exalt Him and His traits, we acknowledge Him for who He is and what He means to all who believe and trust in Him.
Next time the Psalmist says, “give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
