Luke the beloved physician wrote when Jesus was going to a centurion's house to heal his servant, the centurion sent word to Jesus, “Lord, trouble not yourself: for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof. Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto you: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick”, and in chapter seven and verse eleven of his book Luke shared how Jesus, “went into a city called Nain” where we read:
And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain;
and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
The verse reads, “And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; ” Luke began with the words, “and it came to pass” or “and it happened and came into existence” “the day after” which means “the sunrise to sunset after Jesus healed the centurion's servant”, “that he went into a city called Nain” or “that Jesus entered into an abode, town or habitation whose name was Nain which means beauty and was a village in Galilee located at the north base of Little Hermon”. Luke shared how Jesus left Capernaum the day after He cured the centurion's servant and entered another village named “Nain”.
The verse continues, “and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.” Luke added the words, “and many of his disciples” which means “and a good number of Jesus' students, pupil and attendants” “went with him” or “journeyed and assembled alongside Jesus”, “and much people” which means “and a massive crowd or large group of people who were both male and female went with Jesus as well”. Luke shared how Jesus' “disciples” journeyed into “Nain” with Him, and a large group of people traveled with Him as well.
When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn of another place where Jesus was traveling to share the principles of the Kingdom of God. This time the city was called “Nain” or “beauty”. The “gospel” of Jesus Christ was and is to be for “all” people, and because Jesus demonstrated His willingness to travel to other cities, those who wonder if He desires to have a relationship with Him should be put at ease. God loves everyone, and those who are wise will be like His “disciples” and the group of “people” who followed His Son Jesus and travel with Him wherever He leads.
Next time Luke shares about, “a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
