Luke the beloved physician shared how the Lord Jesus asked, “Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not wept. For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He has a devil. The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and you say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!”, and in chapter seven and verse thirty-five of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “wisdom is justified of all her children” where we read:
But wisdom is justified of all her children.
The verse reads, “But wisdom is justified ...” Luke began with the words, “but wisdom” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding, moreover broad and full intelligence which is used of the knowledge of very diverse matters” “is justified” which means “is rendered righteous or such as he ought to be”. Luke shared how Jesus referred to the used of “full intelligence” as being “rendered righteous” by the following.
The verse continues, “... of all her children.” Luke added the words, “of all” which means “pertaining to each, every, the whole and everyone of” “her children” or “wisdom's offspring and progeny”. Luke shared how Jesus said the “offspring” of the righteous state of “wisdom” would be the evidence of it's proper use.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus told the “Pharisees and lawyers” who were doubting Him and John the Baptist that the “proof” of the “righteous use” of intelligence would be shown through the people who follow it. Gaining the knowledge of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ through the scriptures is a wise decision, and those who come to know Him shall “believe and trust” Him to be their personal “Savior and Lord”. People who refuse to “righteously use” what they come to know through disbelief shall find evidence or “offspring” that corresponds to their doubt. Let all who read these words consider Jesus carefully and wisely yield their lives to Him.
Next time Luke shares how, “one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
