In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse thirteen of Psalms David said, “as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD” where we read,
But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time:
O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.
The verse begins, “But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time:” David began with the words, “but as for me” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover on behalf and related to me, David”, “my prayer is unto you” which means “my, David's, intercession, supplication and by implication a hymn exists toward you, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “in an acceptable time” which means “within a pleasant and favorable occurrence or occasion”. David shared how he would respond to the taunting and mocking of the officials at the gate and the drunkards' song by interceding and making supplication to Jehovah God within a favorable occurrence or period of time.
The verse continues, “O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.” David added the words, “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “in the multitude of your mercy” which means “within the abundance and greatness of your, Divine judge Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “hear me” or “answer, respond and pay attention to me, David”, “in the truth” which means “within the firmness, faithfulness, stability and reliableness” “of your salvation” or “belonging to your, Divine judge Jehovah God's, rescue, deliverance, welfare, prosperity and liberation”. David referred to how Jehovah God would pay attention to him because of the abundance of His faithfulness and the sureness of his rescue and prosperity.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David responded to people who were conjuring up ideas against him and mocking him with their songs. David called upon the Divine judge Jehovah God, and he knew God would respond to him according to His faithfulness and truthful deliverance. God loved David, and David could rely upon God because he had a personal relationship with Him. God desires to have a personal relationship with us, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and He was resurrected from the dead so we too may have communion with Him. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and believe in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He is faithful to forgive our sins and will grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us call upon the faithful, true and delivering God who will pay attention to our prayers when others bring affliction and persecution upon us for His sake.
Next time David says, “deliver me out of the mire”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
