In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse thirty-one of Psalms David said, “this also shall please the LORD” where we read,
This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that has horns and hoofs.
The verse begins, “This also shall please the LORD ...” David began with the words, “this also shall please” or “giving praise in songs and making Jehovah Great even so and indeed will be joyful, well, beautiful and right unto” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David declared singing to Jehovah God and magnifying Him would be beautiful and joyful to Him.
The verse continues, “... better than an ox or bullock that has horns and hoofs.” David added the words, “better than an ox” or “to a greater degree than a plowing ox as a sacrifice” “or bullock” which means “or a young bull or steer” “that has horns and hoofs” or “which possesses shining rays and divided or broken in two hoofs”. David said presenting a song of praise and thanksgiving to Jehovah God would exceed the sacrifice of animals such as oxen or bulls with their “horns and hoofs”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David knew his songs of praise and thanksgiving would please Jehovah God, and they would exceed sacrifices of animals. God wants us to praise Him because this demonstrates His priority in our lives. Jesus said, “Seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33), and when we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and ask Jesus to come into our heart and life, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Let us join David and give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for who they are and for their salvation plan for our lives.
Next time David says, “the humble shall see this, and be glad”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
