In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “I am poor and sorrowful: let your salvation, O God, set me up on high”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse thirty of Psalms David said, “I will praise the name of God with a song” where we read,
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
The verse begins, “I will praise the name of God with a song, ...” David began with the words, “I will praise” or “I, David, shall shine, be boastful and celebrate” “the name of God” which means “the fame, reputation and faithfulness belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “with a song” or “by the means of a lyrical or religious musical ode”. David declared that he would adore and celebrate the Divine judge Jehovah God by the means of a musical ode.
The verse goes on to say, “... and will magnify him with thanksgiving.” David continued with the words, “and will magnify him” or “and shall make powerful, great and important him, the Divine judge Jehovah God” “with thanksgiving” which means “by the means of confession and adoration with a choir of worshipers”. David shared how he would exalt the Divine judge Jehovah God and make Him important with adoration from a choir of worshipers.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David decided to give honor and glory to Jehovah God with a musical ode, and he would make Him great by adoration with a choir. Although David suffered great onslaught from the people who hated him, David resorted to “praising” God with songs of “thanksgiving”. God loves us, and He is worthy of our praise in songs. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and receive our worship in songs of “praise and thanksgiving” as we use them to make Him great.
Next time David says, “this also shall please the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
