In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter you the people that delight in war. Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse thirty-two of Psalms David said, “Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth” where we read,
Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:
The verse begins, “Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth;” David began with the words, “sing unto God” or “make music with voices toward the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “you kingdoms” which means “you dominions, sovereignties and realms” “of the earth” or “belonging to the country, territory, region and world”. David encourage all the realms and dominions in the world to make music with their voices unto the Divine ruler Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:” David added the words, “O sing praises” or “O celebrate with songs and music” “unto the Lord” which means “toward Adonay who is the reverent Master”; “Selah” or “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. David instructed his readers and listeners to give honor, praise and glory to the reverent Master Jehovah God, and they should pause to meditate upon this idea.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how David wanted the entire world to “sing” and give “praise” to Jehovah God, and when we think through the idea that God is our Creator, maker, sustainer and Savior through His Son Jesus Christ, we cannot help but lift up our voices in song and praise unto Him for forgiveness of our sins and the promise of eternal life with Him. Let us pause and meditate upon this idea and respond to Him with singing and praise to Him forever.
Next time David shares about, “him that rides upon the heavens of heavens”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
