In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse two of Psalms David said, “I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing” where we read,
I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing:
I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
The verse begins, “I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing:” David began with the words, “I sink” or “I, David, settle down, drown and am sunk” “in deep mire” which means “within deep effervescing dregs or mud”, “where there is no standing” or “in which place and location where there exists no foothold or strong ground”. David said he was drowning in deep effervescing mud in which he could find no foothold or solid ground.
The verse goes on to say, “ I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.” David continued with the words, “I am come into deep waters” or “I, David, am descended into flood spring depths”, “where the floods” which means “in the place and location that channels or flowing streams” “overflow me” or “engulf, conquer and drown me, David”. David said the location in which he enter had a deep flood spring, and he was engulfed by the channels of flowing streams.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David likened his difficulties to a deep flood stream that overwhelmed him. Sometimes troubles arrive in multitudes of places and we can feel like we are drowning in them. God knew this would happen at times in our lives, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us wherein we may go to Him like David did when he was engulfed. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we could believe in Him and be forgiven. When we receive Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will be with us in engulfing times and throughout eternity because we yielded our lives to Him.
Next time David says, “I am weary of my crying”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
