In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse three of Psalms David said, “I am weary of my crying” where we read,
I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: my eyes fail while I wait for my God.
The verse begins, “I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried:” David began with the words, “I am weary” or “I, David, am labored, faint and toiling” “of my crying” which means “pertaining to my, David's, calling out, uttering a loud sound, summoning and inviting”: “my throat is dried” or “my, David's, neck as an open sepulcher exists as hot, scorched, charred and burned”. David said he was so tired of calling out, summoning and inviting that his neck for speaking became as charred and burned because of his vocal toil.
The verse continues, “my eyes fail while I wait for my God.” David added the words, “my eyes fail” which means “my, David's, physical, mental and spiritual eyes for seeing cease, end, finish and are used up” “while I wait for my God” or “during the time I, David, tarry, hope and expect my, David's Divine, ruler and Supreme God”. David said his mental, spiritual and physical ability to see ceased and was used up during the time he was expecting the Divine judge Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David did not receive his desire from Jehovah God right away. David was overwhelmed by his situation, and he constantly called out to God for an answer, however, no answer came and it caused his throat to be sore and his “vision” for the future to become weak. God knows we will endure hard times, and sometimes it seems like no answer to our troubles will come. This can cause us to “faint” as we wait. In those times we must remember that God is for us and not against us. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we could be forgiven and forever live with Him. All that happens in the mean time is under His control, and He will not fail us. The prophet Isaiah said, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you” (See Isaiah 26:3), and as we cry out and wait, let our minds be upon Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ and remain in “peace” as we put out hope in them.
Next time David shares about, “they that hate me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
