Save Me O God - Psalms 69:1

Psalms chapter sixty nine begins with the heading, [[To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.]] which breaks down “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director” “upon Shoshannim” which means “on lily which probably refers to any lily like flower which is shaped like a trumpet”, “a Psalm” or “a poem or melody set to notes” “of David” which means “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse one of Psalms David said, “Save me, O God” where we read,

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

The verse begins, Save me, O God; David began with the words, “Save me” or “rescue, deliver and liberate me, David”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David called out to the Divine judge Jehovah God to rescue and deliver him.

The verse continues, for the waters are come in unto my soul. David added the words, “for the waters” or “because, since and on account that the floodwaters” “are come in” which means “” “unto my soul” or “toward my, David's, inner man, mind, heart, appetite, living being, desires and seat of emotions and passions”. David said floodwaters were entered into his inner man, mind and heart.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discovered David's appeal for Jehovah God to rescue Him. Floodwaters like torrents entered his mind and heart, and he needed to be “saved”. Sometimes the onslaught of wicked and difficult things enter our lives, and they seem like they are flooding our “souls”. Jehovah God will rescue us in these times even as He desires to save every person from their sins. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us in the times of our greatest need. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God for being willing to liberate us when troubles like rushing waters come our way.

Next time David says, “I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
