In Psalms chapter sixty nine David said, “O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you”, and in chapter sixty-nine and verse six of Psalms David said, “Let not them that wait on you … be ashamed for my sake” where we read,
Let not them that wait on you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake:
let not those that seek you be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
The verse begins, “Let not them that wait on you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake:” David began with the words, “let not them that wait on you” or “do not allow or permit the people who look for, hope and expect you, Jehovah God”, “O Lord GOD” which means “O Adonay or reverent Master Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “of hosts” or “of an organized army or massive amount of angels” “be ashamed” which means “be put to shame, disconcerted, disappointed and delayed” “for my sake” or “on behalf of my, David's, account”. David appealed to the Divine judge Jehovah God who is over multitudes of angels not to allow people who hope for and are in expectation of Him to be disappointed because of his account.
The verse goes on to say, “let not those that seek you be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.” David continued with the words, “let not those that seek you” or “do not allow or permit the people who desire, make requests of and search for you, Divine judge Jehovah God, to” “be confounded” which means “exist as insulted, shamed, humiliated, blushed and reproached” “for my sake” or “on behalf of my, David's, account”, “O God of Israel” which refers to “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. David beckoned Jehovah God, who is Israel's God, not to allow people who search for and desire Him to be humiliated and shamed because of his account.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David did not want Jehovah God to cause people who were in expectation of Him to be disappointed and reproached. David thought it would be his fault that others who were searching for God and expecting Him to work to be humiliated and put to shame. In other words, David cared for his people. God loves everyone, and He pays particular attention to people who are seeking Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross to pay for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after He was crucified, and God's invitation is for us to “seek” Him and “wait” for Him to work in our lives.
Next time David says, “because for your sake I have borne reproach”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
