Willingly Received - John 6:21

The apostle John wrote how Jesus', “disciples went down unto the sea, And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he said unto them, It is I; be not afraid”, and in chapter six and verse twenty-one of his book, John shared how the disciples, “willingly received him into the ship” where we read:

Then they willingly received him into the ship:

and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

The verse reads,Then they willingly received him into the ship:”. John began with the words, “then they willingly received him” or “at that time Jesus' disciples desired, wished and delighted to reach forth, strive to obtain and gather Jesus” “into the ship” which means “into the boat or sailing vessel”. John shared how Jesus' disciples gladly “gathered” Him into their boat.

The verse goes on to say, and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.John added the words, “and immediately” which means “and straightway and forthwith” “the ship was at the land” or “the boat or sailing vessel was at the arable land, ground, country and boundaries” “whither they went” which means “where the disciples of Jesus were going”. John shared how the “boat” in which the disciples of Jesus were sailing was “immediately” where they were going.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus' disciples responded to His comforting words. They happily “received” Him into their boat to be among them. Jesus waits for every person to invite and receive Him into their lives, and when they submit to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and be with them in every “storm” of life. After Jesus was with the disciples, the “boat” they were in was “immediately” at their destination, and Jesus will lead anyone who yields their life to Him in the same way.

Next time John shares how Jesus' disciples, “were gone away alone”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
