Believe on Jesus for Everlasting Life - John 6:47

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told the people looking for Him, “No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me. Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God, he has seen the Father”, and in chapter six and verse forty-seven of his book, John shared how Jesus told the people, “He that believes on me has everlasting life” where we read:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.

The verse reads,Verily, verily, I say unto you, ...”. John began with the words, “Verily, verily” or “truly, truly or surely, surely” “I say unto you” which means “I, Jesus, utter, declare and proclaim to you Jewish people who were questioning Jesus” the following words. John shared how Jesus certifiably declared the following words to the Jewish people who were questioning Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... He that believes on me has everlasting life.” John continued with the words, “He that believes on me” which means “the person whether male or female who trusts in, relies upon, clings to and has confidence in Jesus” “has everlasting life” or “holds, owns and possesses never to cease and eternal life which lasts forever”. John shared how Jesus told the Jewish people who were questioning Him the person who “relies upon, clings to and has confidence” in Him will have age abiding and eternal life with God.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus again certifiably declared that people who “believe and trust” in Him will be granted “everlasting life”. God the Father's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person, and when they believe and trust in His Son Jesus, they will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. Let all who read Jesus' words surrender their lives to Him, believe and receive the “everlasting life” He promised.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the people, “I am that bread of life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
