The Foolish Shall Not Stand - Psalms 5:5

Psalms chapter five begins with David's words, “Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray. My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto you, and will look up. For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with you”, and in chapter five and verse five of Psalms David wrote, “The foolish shall not stand in your sight” where we read,

The foolish shall not stand in your sight: you hate all workers of iniquity.

The verse begins, “The foolish shall not stand in your sight:” David began with the words, “The foolish” which means “the boastful one and people who praise and rage over their own selves” “shall not stand” or “will in no way set, present and station themselves” “in your sight” which means “within your, God's, eye, favor or regard ”. David shared how people who boast about themselves will be unable to set and present themselves in a place of favor in the “sight” of God.

The verse goes on to say, “you hate all workers of iniquity.” David continued with the words, “you hate all workers” or “you, God, are odious to and as an enemy or foe to each, every, the whole and everyone who is a practicer, maker and committer” “of iniquity” which means “of trouble, wickedness, sorrow and vanity”. David wrote how God is as an enemy to everyone who commits trouble, evil and vanity.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn more about the character of God. People who boast about themselves will have nothing to stand on in the presence of Him, and He “hates” everyone who commits evil and wicked acts. We ask, how does this align with a loving God that we've read about in verses like this, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life?” (See John 3:16) The fact that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23) is the reason God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to rescue them before they stand before Him. Everyone is unrighteous and unholy before God, and when a person believes and trusts in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He forgives their sins, grants them everlasting life and makes them righteous in His “sight”. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21) Let all boasting and iniquity be put away as we give praise and honor to God who alone is worthy to receive the glory for His intercession, redemption and salvation provided for mankind.

Next time David says, “You shall destroy them that speak leasing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
