They That Trust in God Rejoice - Psalms 5:11

In Psalms chapter five David wrote, “Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy you them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against you”, and in chapter five and verse eleven of Psalms David wrote, “let all those that put their trust in you rejoice” where we read,

But let all those that put their trust in you rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: let them also that love your name be joyful in you.

The verse begins, “But let all those that put their trust in you rejoice:” David began with the words, “But let all those” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover allow and permit each, every, the whole and everyone” “that put their trust in you” or “who seeks refuge, has faith, hope and protection from you, God” “rejoice” which means “be gladdened, gleeful, cheerful and merry”. David shared how he encouraged every person who places their confidence and hope in God to be glad and joyful.

The verse goes on to say, “let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them:” David continued with the words, “let them ever shout” or “allow and permit the people to continuously, perpetually and eternally cry out, ring, and proclaim aloud” “for joy” which means “with triumph and vociferous rejoicing”, “because you defend them” or “since and on account that you, Jehovah God, hedge in, cover and protect the people who trust in you, God”. David wrote how the people who put their faith and trust in Jehovah God should shout aloud with rejoicing because God is their defense and protection.

Finally the verse says, “let them also that love your name be joyful in you.” David ended this verse by saying, “let them also” or “allow and permit every person even so and indeed” “that love your name” which means “who has affection toward God's reputation, fame and glory” “be joyful in you” or “exult, rejoice and triumph in you, Jehovah God”. David shared how the people who trust in Jehovah God and are affectionate toward his reputation and glory should rejoice, be happy and triumph in Him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see the contrast of the person who puts their faith and trust in the LORD verses those who have confidence in themselves. People who yield to Him and His Son Jesus “rejoice, shout and are joyful” in their relationship with Him because He is their “defense”. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus, and when they submit to Him, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. We may join in with those who have surrendered to Jesus and shout, be joyful and rejoice because the LORD God has become our security and defense.

Next time David says, “For you, LORD, will bless the righteous”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
