In Psalms ninety-three the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “Your throne is established of old: you are from everlasting”, and in chapter ninety-three and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice” where we read,
The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
The verse begins, “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “the floods” or “the streams and rivers” “have lifted up” which means “have born, carried, supported, sustained and endured”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One true God”. The Psalmist referred to the streams and rivers which were sustained and supported by Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “the floods” or “the streams and rivers” “have lifted up their voice” which means “have raised, born, carried, supported and sustained their, the waves', sound, noise and proclamation”; “the floods” or “the streams and rivers” “lift up their waves” which means “bear up, exalt and raise the crushing, dashing, crashing and pounding of the waves of the sea”. The Psalmist referred to the way the streams and rivers raise their sound and noise by means of their crashing and pounding waves.
When think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist describes the way the rivers and streams raise their sound in the earth. God created these waters, and He rules over them all. He created us as well, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to know that God rules over the crashing waves of the rivers, streams and seas.
Next time the Psalmist says, “The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
