Jesus Spoke of the Father - John 8:27

John the apostle wrote how Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees,I go my way, and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he said, Where I go, you cannot come. And he said unto them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins. Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus said unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-seven of his book John shares how the scribes and Pharisees, understood not that he spoke to them of the Father where we read:

They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.

The verse reads,They understood not ...” John began with the word, “they” which means “the Jewish people and religious leaders” “understood not” or “did not perceive, notice, discern or discover” the following. John shared how the “Jewish people and religious leader” did not perceive the following idea from Jesus.

The verse continues, “... that he spoke to them of the Father.” John added the words, “that he spoke to them” which means “that Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed to the Jewish people” “of the Father” or “pertaining to God the Father in Heaven”. John shared how the “Jewish people and religious people” did not understand that Jesus was speaking to them about His Father God.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how the “Jewish people and religious people” did not perceive that Jesus was speaking about His Father God when He told them about “hearing” from Him. Though these people thought they were in the “know”, they actually missed God's Messiah Jesus and the words and ideas that He shared. God wants people to believe and trust in His Son Jesus to establish a relationship with Him, and when they yield their lives to Him, He will forgive them of their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who are wise will understand that Jesus spoke the words His Father God gave to Him and will submit to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the scribes and Pharisees, when you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
