Jesus Working the Works of Him that Sent Him - John 9:4

The apostle John wrote,as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”, and in chapter nine and verse four of his book John shared how Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me” where we read:

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.

The verse reads, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: John began with Jesus' words, “I must work the works” which means “I, Jesus, am behoved, have need and should do, perform, produce and minister the business, employment, undertaking, enterprise, acts and deeds” “of him that sent me” or “belonging to God the Father who dispatched and assigned me, Jesus”, “while it is day” which means “during the time allotted”. John shared how Jesus told His “disciples” He was to perform the “works” of God the Father who dispatched Him during the “time” allotted to Him on the earth.

The verse goes on to say, “the night comes, when no man can work. John continued with Jesus' words, “the night comes” which means “the time when work ceases arises, appears and comes forth”, “when no man can work” or “whenever no person whether male or female will be able, capable or have power to do labor, business or to perform and produce”. John shared how Jesus said the time when “work ceases” will arrive and person will be able to “perform, produce and have power to labor”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how there is an urgency and immediacy to Jesus performing the “acts and deeds” of His Father God. He also said there would be a “time” when no one would be able to “perform or produce” any act or deed. There is only so much time for every person to yield their life to Almighty God through His Son Jesus Christ, and once that time is completed, no one will be able to “work”, and it will be too late to have a personal relationship with God.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
