Who Are You? - John 8:25

John the apostle wrote how Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees,I go my way, and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he said, Where I go, you cannot come. And he said unto them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-five of his book John shares how the scribes and Pharisees ask Jesus, who are you? where we read:

Then said they unto him, Who are you?

And Jesus said unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

The verse reads,Then said they unto him, Who are you?” John began with the words, “then said they unto him” which means “at that time the Jewish people and Pharisees uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked Jesus”, “who are you” or “what person are you, Jesus”? John shared how the “Jewish people and religious leaders” questioned Jesus as to “who” He was.

The verse continues, And Jesus said unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.” John added the words, “and Jesus said unto them” which means “and the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation”, “even the same that I said unto you” or “like the certain and definite words I, Jesus, uttered, declared and proclaimed to you, Jewish people and religious leaders” “from the beginning” which means “from Jesus' original time of sharing”. John shared how Jesus told the “Jewish people and religious leaders” that He continued to share the same message about Himself that He did when He originally spoke to them.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus' message never changed. People needed a “Savior” from the penalty of sins which is death, and He came to be the “Christ and Son of God” who would provide “salvation” to every person who believes and trusts in Him. Those who are wise will not just question “who” Jesus is, but discover Him as God's “Messiah” to the world.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the scribes and Pharisees, I have many things to say and judge of you, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
