Jesus to the Temple Again - John 8:2

The apostle John wrote how, “Jesus went unto the mount of Olives, and in chapter eight and verse two John shared how Jesus, “came again into the temple” where we read:

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him;

and he sat down, and taught them.

The verse reads,And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him;” John began with the word, “and early in the morning” which means “and at dawn or daybreak” “he came again” or “Jesus arose and appeared” “into the temple” which means “in the sacred worship place in Jerusalem”, “and all the people” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the people both male and female” “came unto him” which means “arose and came forth to Jesus”. John shared how Jesus left the “Mount of Olives” at dawn and went into the “sacred worship” place again where “all the people” gathered themselves to Him.

The verse continues, “... and he sat down, and taught them.” John added the words, “and he sat down” which means “and Jesus was seated”, “and taught them” or “and gave didactic discourses, imparted instruction, explained and instilled doctrine within the people who gathered”. John shared how Jesus was “seated” among the people who gathered, and He began to “teach” them.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus not only arrived at “the temple early in the morning”, but He also began to “teach” the people who assembled before Him. Jesus wanted people to know about the Kingdom of God, and He shared with the people so they would be aware. We can imagine how this affected not only the people who gathered, but also the “religious leaders” who were there as well. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and those who are wise will listen carefully to His teachings and yield their lives to the only One who is able to “forgive” their sins and grant them everlasting life.

Next time John shares how, the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
