The Blind Man Healed on the Sabbath - John 9:14

The apostle John wrote how Jesus saw a man who was born blind and healed him by making clay, putting the clay in his eyes, and having him wash in the pool of Siloam. When the “blind man's” neighbors asked him “how were your eyes opened?”, the man said, “a man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash”. The neighbors then asked, Where is he? He said, I know not. They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind, and in chapter nine and verse fourteen of his book John shared how “it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay” where we read:

And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

The verse reads, “And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, ... John began with the words, “and it was the sabbath day” which means “and the timing of the miracle was upon the day of each week which was a sacred festival on which the Israelites were required to abstain from all work” “when Jesus” or “at the time and moment the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “made the clay” which means “produced and prepared the wet mud”. John shared how Jesus prepared the “wet mud” to put upon the “blind man's” eyes on the “Sabbath” day of rest.

The verse goes on to say, “... and opened his eyes. John continued with the words, “and opened” which means “unfastened or unstopped” “his eyes” or “the blind man's physical eyes”. John shared how Jesus “made the clay” and “unstopped” the blind man's eyes upon the “Sabbath day”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus performed this miracle upon the “blind man” on the “Sabbath day” of rest. We have seen how “working” on the “Sabbath day” has upset the “Pharisees” in the past, but this did not stop Jesus for helping a man. God's desire is to give aid to people by sending His Son Jesus into the world to save them from the penalty of their sins, death, and when they put their faith and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins and provide them with everlasting life. This does not require any specific day, and any time a person humbles themselves and yields to Jesus, He is willing to remove their “spiritual blindness” and give them eternal life with His Father God.

Next time John shares how, “the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
