Jesus Writing on the Ground Again - John 8:8

The apostle John wrote how, “Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, they say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her, and in chapter eight and verse eight of His book John shared again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground where we read:

And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

The verse reads,And again he stooped down, ...” John began with the words, “And again” which means “and another time” “he stooped down” or “Jesus bowed His head and bent forward”. John shared how Jesus returned to His bent low position after extending His challenge to the “religious leaders”.

The verse continues, “... and wrote on the ground.” John added the words, “and wrote” which means “and delineated or formed letters”, “on the ground” or “upon the land beneath Him”. John shared how Jesus returned to “writing on the ground” after He made His statement and bent down.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus gave a challenge to the religious leaders, bent down, and began writing on the ground again. In other words, He gave place for the conviction to begin within the hearts of each of the “scribes and Pharisees”. Jesus knows every person's “sin”, and because He came to “save” people from their errors and wrongs, He gave His life on the cross to be the “Savior and Lord” of the world. Those who put their faith and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Jesus knows. Jesus forgives, and Jesus saves, and those who are wise will humble themselves before Him and believe.

Next time John shares how, they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
