The LORD Knows the Thoughts of Man - Psalms 94:11

In Psalms ninety-four the Psalmist asked, “He that chastens the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teaches man knowledge, shall not he know?” and in chapter ninety-four and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD knows the thoughts of man” where we read,

The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

The verse begins, The LORD knows the thoughts of man, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “knows the thoughts” which means “perceives, discriminates, discerns and distinguishes the devises, plans, purposes and inventions” “of man” or “belonging to people both male and female”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is aware of the devises, plans and purposes of people.

The verse continues, that they are vanity. The Psalmist added the words, “that they” or “that they, the thoughts of people” “are vanity” which means “exist as breath or vapor”. The Psalmist said the plans and purposes of people exist as vapor.

When consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist said Jehovah God has knowledge of everything people think, plan, purpose and invent. He understands that their “thoughts” are vain and like puffed up air. God created us, and He gave us the ability to learn, know and think. Although we may believe our thoughts are original and without anyone knowing, God knows them all. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to think and make plans that are pleasing to Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “Blessed is the man whom you chasten, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
