Sing and Bless God's Name - Psalms 96:2

In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “O sing unto the LORD a new song. sing unto the LORD, all the earth”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Sing unto the LORD, bless his name” where we read,

Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation from day to day.

The verse begins, Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; The Psalmist began with the words, “Sing unto the LORD” or “make music with a voice toward Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”, “bless his name” which means “kneel, praise, salute and congratulate his, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory”. The Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to use their voices to make music to Jehovah God, and in doing so, praise, salute and congratulate His fame, reputation and glory.

The verse continues, show forth his salvation from day to day. The Psalmist added the words, “show forth his salvation” or “bear tidings, publish, preach and announce his, Jehovah God's, rescue, deliverance, liberation and victory” “from day to day” which means “from each period or time of the sunrise to sunset and sunset to sunrise”. The Psalmist beckoned his readers and listeners bear tidings of and announce Jehovah God's deliverance and liberation from each sunrise to sunset and sunset and sunrise.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist repeated his idea about making music with voices unto Jehovah God, and in doing so those who sing would give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory. They were to bear tidings and give announcements of Jehovah God's deliverance and liberation every day, and we have that same opportunity today. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (See John 3:16-17) This is God's good news to everyone in the world, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to give Him praise and declare His “salvation” throughout the world every day.

Next time the Psalmist says, “Declare his glory among the heathen”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
