The People of God's Pasture - Psalms 95:7

In Psalms ninety-five the Psalmist said, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker”, and in chapter ninety-five and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture” where we read,

For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Today if you will hear his voice,

The verse begins, For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. The Psalmist began with the words, “for he is our God” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, exists as our, the Psalmist and his people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”; “and we are the people” which means “and we, the Psalmist and his people, exist as the members of ones' people, compatriots, countrymen and nation” “of his pasture” or “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, shepherding and pasturage”, “and the sheep” which means “and the small animals or flocks that graze” “of his hand” or “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, hand which represents power, strength, might and ability”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God existed as his and his people's Divine judge, and they were the countrymen and nation within His shepherding as well as the “sheep” of His power, strength and ability.

The verse continues,Today if you will hear his voice, The Psalmist added the words, “today if you will hear” or “at this period and division of time whether and in case you, the Psalmist's readers and listeners, shall listen, obey, pay attention and give heed to” “his voice” which means “his, Jehovah God's, noise and sound of uttered words”. The Psalmist began an exhortation with a condition of paying attention and listening to Jehovah God's “voice” of uttered words.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be his and the people in his nation's Divine judge as well as the countrymen and compatriots who belong to his fold or flock. In other words they were God's people. He continued by telling them to listening to Jehovah God's “voice”. God speaks to the hearts and minds of people as His Holy Spirit calls them to believe and trust in His Son Jesus. He loves people so much that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and speak to us “if” we will simply listen and “hear”.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God says, “harden not your heart, as in the provocation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
