Who Will Rise Up Against the Evildoers? - Psalms 94:16

In Psalms ninety-four the Psalmist said, “the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it” and in chapter ninety-four and verse sixteen of Psalms the Psalmist asked, “who will rise up for me against the evildoers?” where we read,

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?

or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

The verse begins, Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? The Psalmist began with the words, “who will rise up for me” or “what person shall arise, stand up and come on the scene on behalf of me, the Psalmist” “against the evildoers” which means “in opposition to people who are bad, evil, displeasing, injurious and wicked”? The Psalmist questioned what person would stand up for him in opposition to people who commit wickedness and evil.

The verse continues,or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? The Psalmist added the words, “or who will stand up for me” or “or what person shall arise and come on the scene on behalf of me, the Psalmist” “against the workers” which means “in opposition to people who are makers, performers, ordainers and committers” “of iniquity” or “of trouble, wickedness, sorrow and idolatry”? The Psalmist asked what person would come on the scene on behalf of him in opposition to people who make and perform wickedness and idolatry.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist sought to find anyone who would come to his defense in opposition to people who are evil and commit trouble and wickedness. It seems as though no one was available or capable of helping him, however, we shall discover that Jehovah God was to be his defense. God loves His people, and He loves all people. He wants to have a relationship with everybody through His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to be crucified on the cross. When He died for the sins of the world, He made access for anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Jehovah God wants to defend and stand up for us against people who commit wickedness and evil, and when we yield to Him, He will watch over and protect us like no one else is able to do.

Next time the Psalmist shared what would happen, “unless the LORD had been my help”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
