Serve the LORD with Gladness - Psalms 100:2

In Psalms one hundred the Psalmist said, “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all you lands”, and in chapter one hundred and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “serve the LORD with gladness” where we read,

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

The verse begins, Serve the LORD with gladness: The Psalmist began with the words, “Serve the LORD” or “work, be tilled and compelled toward Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “with gladness” which means “by the use of joy, mirth, glad result and happy issue”. The Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to labor for Jehovah God with joy, mirth and glad result.

The verse continues, come before his presence with singing. The Psalmist added the words, “come before his presence” or “enter in and be enumerated in front of his, Jehovah God's, face, visage and countenance” “with singing” which means “by the use of making music and ringing sounds with voices”. The Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to enter in before Jehovah God's face by using their voices to make music and ringing sounds.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist wanted the people reading and listening to his words to be of service and labor toward Jehovah God with an attitude of glee and cheerfulness. They were to enter in to God's visage by using their voices to make ringing sounds and music of worship to Him. God wants us to come to Him, and His invitation is open to every person who will receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put us in a position to give Him honor, worship and glory with our songs and ringing sounds of praise.

Next time the Psalmist says, “know you that the LORD he is God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
