Light is Sown for the Righteous - Psalms 97:11

In Psalms ninety-seven the Psalmist said, “You that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them out of the hand of the wicked”, and in chapter ninety-seven and verse ten of Psalms the Psalmist said, “light is sown for the righteous” where we read,

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

The verse begins, Light is sown for the righteous, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “light is sown” or “illumination, day-break, dawn and morning light is scattered, disseminated and planted” “for the righteous” which means “on behalf of the people who are just, lawful, correct and vindicated by God”. The Psalmist said illumination is planted and disseminated on behalf of people who are just, correct and lawful.

The verse goes on to say,... and gladness for the upright in heart. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and gladness” or “joy, mirth, gaiety, pleasure and exceeding happiness” “for the upright” which means “on behalf of the straight, correct, right, pleasing, straightforward, fitting and proper” “in heart” or “within their souls, minds, wills, desires, living beings and seat of emotions and passions”. The Psalmist said joy, pleasure and exceeding happiness would exist within the souls, minds and wills of people who are straight, right and pleasing to Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist said illumination is planted within the people who are lawful, correct and just according to Jehovah God's standards, and this causes them to be exceedingly happy within their souls and minds. God desires to shed His illumination upon us, and He wants us to have His “joy” within us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross to die for our sins, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill us with His “light” and “gladness” as He makes us righteous and “upright” before Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “rejoice in the LORD, you righteous”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
