Worship the LORD in the Beauty of Holiness - Psalms 96:9

In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “Give unto the LORD, O you kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said, “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” where we read,

O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

The verse begins, O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: The Psalmist began with the words, “O worship the LORD” or “O bow down, depress and prostrate your own selves to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in the beauty” which means “within the adornment, glory, decoration and honor” “of holiness” or “pertaining to apartness, sacredness, separateness and sanctity”. The Psalmist called upon his listeners and readers to bow down and give obeisance to Jehovah God within the adornment, decoration and honor of sacredness and sanctity.

The verse goes on to say, fear before him, all the earth. The Psalmist continued with the words, “fear before him” or “twist, whirl, dance, tremble, travail and be in anguish in front and in the presence of him, Jehovah God”, “all the earth” which means “throughout the whole, totality and every part of the land, country, territory, district, region and world”. The Psalmist beckoned his readers and listeners throughout the entire world to tremble and travail in the presence of Jehovah God.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist called upon everyone everywhere to bow down and give adoration to Jehovah God within the adornment and glory of His sacredness and sanctity, and they were to give Him reverence and awe throughout the world. God is worthy of our praise for who He is and because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cause us to humble ourselves, be in awe of Him and attribute to Him the “worship” and praise that He is due.

Next time the Psalmist says, “say among the heathen that the LORD reigns”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
