Let Us Worship and Bow Down - Psalms 95:6

In Psalms ninety-five the Psalmist said, “the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land, and in chapter ninety-five and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “O come, let us worship and bow down” where we read,

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

The verse begins, O come, let us worship and bow down: The Psalmist began with the words, “O come” or “O walk, proceed, move and lead forth”, “let us worship” which means “allow and permit us, the Psalmist and his people to, reverence, make obeisance and be in awe” “and bow down” or “and crouch, sink, prostrate and kneel”. The Psalmist called upon himself and his people to reverence and make obeisance to Jehovah God as they prostrated themselves before Him.

The verse goes on to say,let us kneel before the LORD our maker. The Psalmist continued with the words, “let us kneel” or “allow and permit us, the Psalmist and his people, to bend their knees to bless, praise and salute” “before the LORD” which means “in front and in the presence of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One true God” “our maker” or “our, the Psalmist and his people's, producer, one who fashions and creator”. The Psalmist called upon himself and his people to bend their knees in the presence of Jehovah God who was their creator.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist beckoned himself and his readers and listeners to reverence, make obeisance and be in awe of Jehovah God as they bent their knees in honor and praise of Him. Anyone who truly considers that Jehovah God is their Creator should humble themselves, bow before God and give Him praise, honor and glory for who He is and what He has done. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to bow our knees before Him to reverence Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords forever and ever. (See Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10)

Next time the Psalmist says, “he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
