In Psalms ninety-three and verse one the Psalmist said, “The LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty” where we read,
The LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty;
the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he has girded himself:
the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.
The verse begins, “The LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty;” The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD reigns” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God consults, rules and is King”, “he is clothed” which means “he, Jehovah God, is dressed, arrayed and properly wrapped” “with majesty” or “by the use of swelling, rising up, excellent things and pride”. The Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be wrapped in excellent things and pride.
The verse continues, “the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he has girded himself:” The Psalmist added the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is clothed with strength” which means “is dressed, arrayed and properly wrapped by the use of power, might and boldness”, “wherewith he has girded himself” or “by which he, Jehovah God, has encompassed and bound His own self”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is arrayed by the use of power, might and ability, and He provided Himself with these characteristics.
Finally the verse says, “the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.” The Psalmist concluded this verse with the words, “the world” or “the earth and globe” “also is established” which means “even so and indeed exists as fixed, set, stable, firm, secure and enduring”, “that it cannot be moved” or “so that it, the earth, will not in any way or manner totter, shake, slip or be dislodged and overthrown”. The Psalmist said the earth and globe were made stable and firm by Jehovah God, and therefore, the earth will never totter or shake without Him.
When think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist exalted Jehovah God by declaring His characteristics. God rules. God is arrayed with excellent things and pride. He is dressed in power, might and ability, and He provided these traits for Himself. God set the earth in a firm place, and without Him, it will never be moved. God controls the universe and everything within it, and He chose to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to give Him praise, honor and glory for being such an awesome God for all eternity.
