Moses, Aaron and Samuel - Psalms 99:6

In Psalms ninety-nine the Psalmist said, “Exalt you the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy”, and in chapter ninety-nine and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist shared about, “Moses, Aaron and Samuel” where we read,

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name;

they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

The verse begins, Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; The Psalmist began with the word, “Moses” whose name means “drawing out and was a prophet and lawgiver who was the leader of the exodus” “and Aaron” “whose name means light bringer and was the brother of Moses, a Levite and the first high priest” “among his priests” or “in the company of and surrounded by his, Jehovah God's, principal officers or chief rulers”, “and Samuel” “whose name means, his name is El, and was son of Elkanah by his wife Hannah and a judge or prophet of Israel during the days of Saul and David” “among them” or “surrounded by and in the company of the people” “that call upon his name” which means “who cry out, proclaim and summon upon his, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory”. The Psalmist said “Moses and Aaron” were in the company of Jehovah God's “priests”, and “Samuel” the prophet was in the company of the people who cried out to Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,they called upon the LORD, and he answered them. The Psalmist continued with the words, “they called” or “they, Moses, Aaron and Samuel, cried out, proclaimed and uttered a loud sound” “upon the LORD” which means “on Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “and he answered them” or “and he, Jehovah God, responded and gave an account to them, Moses, Aaron and Samuel”. The Psalmist said “Moses, Aaron and Samuel” cried out to Jehovah God, and He responded to them.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist employed the relationship that “Moses, Aaron and Samuel” had with Jehovah God. (See Exodus 24, 29 and 1 Samuel 7) God loved these men, and He used them in His Kingdom. He loves us and wants to use us as well. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to “call” upon Him at any time. God will indeed respond to us, and as God was with “Moses, Aaron and Samuel”, He shall be with us as well when we surrender to Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “He spoke unto them in the cloudy pillar”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
