In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said of Ephraim, “the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels”, and in chapter eleven and verse seven of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “my people are bent to backsliding from me” where we read,
And my people are bent to backsliding from me:
though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
The verse begins, “And my people are bent to backsliding from me:” Hosea began with the words, “and my people are bent” or “and my, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female exist as mentally dependent and habituate” “to backsliding from me” which means “toward apostasy and turning away separate and apart from me, Jehovah God”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God knew His “people” of Ephraim or Israel were mentally dependent upon turning away from Him.
The verse goes on to say, “though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.” Hosea continued with the words, “though they called them” or “even through they, the people of Ephraim or Israel, were beckon and summoned” “to the most High” which means “toward the upwards and above Highly exalted One, Jehovah God”, “none at all” or “not one person among the people of Ephraim or Israel” “would exalt him” which means “would set, raise or make him, Jehovah God, lofty and on high”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim or Israel” would not lift up the “most high” Jehovah God even though they were summoned to be in a relationship with Him.
When we think through Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how the people of “Israel” were beckoned by Jehovah God to be in a relationship with Him, however, not only were they prone to apostasy and abandoning God, but they also would not lift Him on “high” even through He “called” them. God invites everyone to receive His salvation through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us by His Holy Spirit from abandoning Him and never forgetting to lift Him up.
Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God asks, “how shall I give you up, Ephraim?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
