In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yes, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb”, and in chapter nine and verse seventeen of Hosea, Hosea said, “my God will cast them away” where we read,
My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him:
and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
The verse begins, “My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him:” Hosea began with the words, “my God” or “my, Hosea's, Supreme Deity and One True God” “will cast them away” which means “shall reject, despise and refuse them, the people of Ephraim”, “because they did not hearken” or “since and on account that they, the people of Ephraim, in no way or manner heard, perceived by ear, gave heed or obeyed” “unto him” which means “to Jehovah God”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim” would be rejected by Jehovah God on account that they did not listen to or obey Him.
The verse continues, “and they shall be wanderers among the nations.” Hosea added the words, “and they shall be wanderers” or “and they, the people of Ephraim, will exist as ones who stray, flee and depart” “among the nations” which means “in the midst and middle of the people groups that are usually non-Hebrew and heathen”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim” would also be destined to flee and depart to the heathen and foreign people groups in the world.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Hosea knew the fate of the people of “Ephraim” because they rejected and refused to listen to and obey Jehovah God. They were to be scattered among the people groups of the world, and most certainly they were. God loves the nation of “Ephraim” or “Israel”, and He desires to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. Anyone, including us, who believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given “ears to hear” what God is saying through His Spirit to all who yield to Him.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Hosea say, “Israel is an empty vine”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
