Though They Bring Up Their Children - Hosea 9:12

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception”, and in chapter nine and verse twelve of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God shared what happens to Ephraim, “though they bring up their children” where we read,

Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left:

yes, woe also to them when I depart from them!

The verse begins, Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left:” Hosea began with the words, “though they bring up their children” or “even though they, the people of Ephraim, grow up, make important, magnify and raise their offspring and progeny”, “yet will I bereave them” which means “still shall I, Jehovah God, miscarry, abort and make them, the children of Ephraim, barren”, “that there shall not be a man left” or “so there will in no way or manner exist a person both male or female among them”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said even if the people of “Ephraim” raise their offspring, there will not exist another human being with them.

The verse goes on to say, yes, woe also to them when I depart from them!” Hosea continued with the words, “yes, woe also to them” or “even so, also and indeed, alas and oh even so and indeed toward the, the people of Ephraim” “when I depart from them” which means “at the time and moment I, Jehovah God, leave, am removed and go away separate and apart from them, the people of Ephraim”. Hosea shared how there would be great “woe” to the people of “Ephraim” at the time Jehovah God leaves them.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God would not allow the people of “Ephraim” to have “children” that would perpetuate their families. God was to leave them because they forsook Him and worshiped idols and false gods instead. God wanted the best for the people of “Ephraim”, but they abandoned Him and now they and their families would suffer. God loves people, and when He gives His commands and ways to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He has our best interest in mind. God wants us to follow Him, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and watch over and protect us and our families when we put our trust in Him.

Next time Hosea says, “Ephraim … is planted in a pleasant place”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
