Wickedness in Gilgal - Hosea 9:15

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. Give them, O LORD: what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts”, and in chapter nine and verse fifteen of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said“all their wickedness is in Gilgal” where we read,

All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them:

for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more:

all their princes are revolters.

The verse begins, All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them:” Hosea began with the words, “all their wickedness” or “each, the whole and everyone of their, the people of Ephraim's, bad, disagreeableness, malignancy and evil” “is in Gilgal” which means “exists within Gilgal whose name mean a wheel rolling and was the dwelling place of prophets in northern Israel about four miles (7km) from Shiloh and Bethel”: “for there I hated them” or “because, since and on account that in Gilgal, I Jehovah God, was as an enemy, foe and adversary to them, the people of Ephraim”. Hosea shared how every one of the evil acts and deeds of “Ephraim” was performed within “Gilgal”, and in that location Jehovah God was as a hating foe and enemy to them.

The verse continues, for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more:”Hosea added the words, “for the wickedness” or “because, since and on account that the bad, disagreeableness, malignancy and evil” “of their doings” which means “pertaining to their, Ephraim's, acts and deeds” “I will drive them out” or “I, Jehovah God, shall expel, thrust out and put them them, Ephraim, away” “of my house” which means “from my, Jehovah God's, dwelling place, habitation and abode”, “I will love them no more” or “I, Jehovah God, shall be affectionate and loving toward them, Ephraim, not any longer”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said He “hated” the people of Ephraim because of their malignant and evil acts and deeds, so He was to thrust them away from His dwelling place and not be affectionate toward them any longer.

Finally the verse says, “all their princes are revolters.” Hosea concluded this verse with the words, “all their princes” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of their, Ephraim's, youthful royal leaders, chieftains, officiates and rulers” “are revolters” which means “exist as stubborn, rebellious and refractory ones”. Hosea ended this verse with Jehovah God noting how every one of the youthful leaders and rulers of “Ephraim” were stubborn and rebellious.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God was aware of the evil and malignancy that was within “Ephraim”, and because they were so sinful, God said He would not only thrust them out of His dwelling place, but also not have affection for them any longer. Their youthful leaders were rebellious and stubborn, so they were also in opposition to Jehovah God. God wants us to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the evil that causes God not to be affectionate toward us, to alienate us and from acting like rebellious youthful rulers.

Next time Hosea says, “Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
