Turn To Your God - Hosea 12:6

In the book of Hosea, Hosea said concerning Jacob, “He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God. Yes, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us. Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial”, and in chapter twelve and verse six of Hosea, Hosea said, turn you to your God where we read,

Therefore turn you to your God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on your God continually.

The verse begins, Therefore turn you to your God:” Hosea began with the word, “therefore” or “wherefore, then and on this account” “turn you to your God” which means “you, people of Jacob or Israel, go back and return to your, the people of Jacob or Israel's, Supreme Deity and One True God”. Hosea called upon the people of “Israel” to return to their relationship with their “Supreme Deity” Jehovah God.

The verse continues, “keep mercy and judgment, and wait on your God continually. Hosea added the words, “keep mercy” or “observe, give heed to and guard over goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “and judgment” which means “and justice, ordinance, process, procedure and litigation”, “and wait on your God” or “and look for, hope and expect your, the people of Jacob or Israel's, Supreme Deity and One True God” “continually” which means “perpetually, constantly and always”. Hosea called upon the people of “Israel” to observe goodness, kindness and faithfulness, attend to justice and litigation and to hope expectantly for their Supreme Deity Jehovah God on a constant and perpetual basis.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Hosea called the people of “Israel” to action. Because their fore-father “Jacob” was visited by Jehovah God and renamed “Israel”, they were to attend to God's way of living and perpetually hope in Him. God loves the people of “Israel”, and He loves us as well. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to “keep mercy and judgment” and to “wait on” our Supreme Deity Jehovah God forever and always.

Next time Hosea says, he is a merchant, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
