Compassed About with Lies and Deceit - Hosea 11:12

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said of the people of Israel, “they shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, says the LORD”, and in chapter eleven and verse twelve of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said“Ephraim compasses me about with lies” where we read,

Ephraim compasses me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit:

but Judah yet rules with God, and is faithful with the saints.

The verse begins, Ephraim compasses me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit:” Hosea began with the word, “Ephraim” whose name means “double ash-heap or I shall be doubly fruitful and was the name sometimes used for the northern kingdom” “compassed me about” which means “turned, transformed and surrounded me, Jehovah God”“with lies” or “by the use of deceptions, falsehoods, leanness and failure”, “and the house of Israel” which means “and the dwelling, habitation, shelter and abode belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name for the descendants and nation of descendants of Jacob” “with deceit” or “by the use of treachery, guile, subtlety and fraud”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God knew “Ephraim” surrounded Him with falsehoods, and within “Israel's” dwelling places were guile and deceptions.

The verse continues, “but Judah yet rules with God, and is faithful with the saints. Hosea added the words, “but Judah”or “however, notwithstanding, nonetheless and moreover Judah whose name means praised and was the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “yet rules with God” which means “still roams restlessly and rambling alongside the Supreme and One True God”, “and is faithful” or “and exists as supported, confirmed and established” “with the saints” which means “alongside the sacred, set apart and holy ones”. Hosea shared how “Judah” continued to roam restlessly alongside Jehovah God and was supported and established alongside the sacred and holy ones.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how both “Ephraim and Israel” were encompassing Jehovah God with falsehoods and deception, however, “Judah” continued at this point to come alongside with Him and His sacred believers. God invites everyone to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to align ourselves with Him through His Holy Spirit every day of our lives.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Hosea say, “Ephraim feeds on the wind”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
