In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I will not execute the fierceness of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city”, and in chapter eleven and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “they shall walk after the LORD” where we read,
They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion:
when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
The verse begins, “They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion:” Hosea began with the words, “they shall walk” or “they, the people of Ephraim will go, depart, proceed and lead their manner of life” “after the LORD” which means “following Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”: “he shall roar” or “he, Jehovah God, will make a mighty conquering cry of distress” “like a lion” which means “similar and in likeness to a youthful lion”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim” would make their way of living following Jehovah God, and He will make a conquering cry over them.
The verse continues, “when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.” Hosea added the words, “when he shall roar” or “at the time and moment he, Jehovah God, will make a mighty conquering cry of distress”, “then the children” which means “at that time, wherefore and these things being so the offspring and progeny” “shall tremble from the west” or “will move about, be afraid, be startled and terrified separate and apart from the sea such as the Red, Dead and Mediterranean Seas”. Hosea referred to the time that Jehovah God shouts aloud and the offspring and progeny of the people of “Ephraim” will be startled and afraid from the western “sea”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God will come to the rescue of “Ephraim” with a shout similar to a “lion roar” and after the offspring of Ephraim hear Him, they will be startled and terrified. God is an awesome God, and when He decides to act on behalf of His people, no one is able to impede Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an awe and reverence for the God who rescues us from sin and cries aloud on our behalf.
Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God says, “they shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
