Filled According to Their Pasture - Hosea 13:6

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said of Ephraim, “I did know you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought”, and in chapter thirteen and verse six of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “according to their pasture, so were they filled” where we read,

According to their pasture, so were they filled;

they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

The verse begins, According to their pasture, so were they filled;” Hosea began with the words, “according to their pasture” or “in keeping with their, Ephraim's, pasturage and shepherding”, “so were they filled” which means “thus and therefore were they, the people of Ephraim, sated, fulfilled and satisfied”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim”were satisfied through the means of their pasturage and shepherding.

The verse continues, “they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me. Hosea added the words, “they were filled” or “they, the people of Ephraim, were sated, fulfilled and satisfied”, “and their heart” which means “and their, the people of Ephraim's, soul, mind, will, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections” “was exalted” or “existed as lofty, set on high, uplifted and raised”: “therefore have they forgotten me” which means “wherefore and on this account, they, the people of Ephraim, have ignored, withered away from and ceased to care for me, Jehovah God”. Hosea shared how the people of “Ephraim” became lofty and uplifted after their souls were satisfied, and the result was that they ignored and ceased to care for Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how the people of “Ephraim” were well provided for by Jehovah God in their fields and flocks, however, after they were satisfied within their souls, they became prideful and forgot about God. God loves the people of “Ephraim or Israel” even as He loves all the people in the world. He provides for us. He protects us, and because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an appreciation and continual of remembrance of Him and His provision every day that we live and throughout eternity.

Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God says, “I will be unto them as a lion, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
