In the book of Hosea, Hosea said, “Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for you have gone a whoring from your God, you have loved a reward upon every corn-floor”, and in chapter nine and verse two of Hosea, Hosea said, “the floor and the winepress shall not feed them” where we read,
The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
The verse begins, “The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, ...” Hosea began with the words, “the floor” or “the corn, barn or threshing floor or void place” “and the winepress” which means “and the wine-vat whether the lower one, into which the juice drains, or the upper in which the grapes are crushed” “shall not feed them” or “will in no way or manner tend to, graze or pasture the people of Israel”. Hosea shared how neither the threshing floor nor the wine-vat would satisfy the people of “Israel”.
The verse goes on to say, “... and the new wine shall fail in her.” Hosea continued with the words, “and the new wine” or “and the freshly pressed fruit of the vine” “shall fail in her” which means “will deceive, disappoint, belie and be insufficient within her, the people of Israel”. Hosea shared how the freshly pressed fruit of the vine would also be insufficient for “Israel”.
When we meditate upon Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how an insufficiency of food and drink would be among the people of “Israel” because they abandoned Jehovah God for the affection of a price and gift “upon every corn-floor”. God wants to provide for everyone, and He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins to give us forgiveness and eternal life. When we surrender to Him, He will supply all our physical and spiritual needs according to His riches in glory. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time Hosea says, “they shall not dwell in the LORD's land”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
